Tendencias actuales en la epidemiología de enfermedades infecciosas emergentes: Lecciones aprendidas de la pandemia de COVID-19

Abstract
La epidemiología de enfermedades infecciosas emergentes ha adquirido una importancia crucial en el contexto de la pandemia de COVID-19, destacando la necesidad de una vigilancia epidemiológica efectiva y estrategias de mitigación adecuadas. Este estudio revisa las tendencias actuales en la epidemiología de enfermedades infecciosas emergentes, con un enfoque en lecciones aprendidas de la pandemia de COVID-19. El objetivo es analizar las estrategias de vigilancia, respuesta y control de enfermedades, identificando desafíos y oportunidades para mejorar la preparación y respuesta ante futuros brotes pandémicos. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva utilizando una muestra diversa de estudios epidemiológicos y de salud pública. Los resultados destacan la importancia de la vigilancia epidemiológica en tiempo real, la necesidad de abordar las desigualdades sociales en salud, y la efectividad de estrategias como la vacunación y el distanciamiento físico. En conclusión, se subraya la importancia de fortalecer la cooperación internacional y la investigación epidemiológica para proteger la salud pública a nivel global.
